Villa Heleneum, seat of the museum of Extra-European Cultures is situated between Cortivo and San domenico ( on the path of Gandria). The villa, located in a public park on the shore of the Lake of Lugano, is a building i neo-classical style. The museum is on three floors each one corresponding to a different concept on display to ensure that the objects are presented in the most stimulating way possible and in accordance with the varying phases of research; the most varied requirements are thus met.

The Brignoni collection, one of the most important in Europe, at the present time comprises about 650 objects, for the most part wooden figures coming from 3 continents: Oceania, Asia and Africa.
